Services

  • I provide in-person or telehealth (online) individual psychotherapy for adults 18 years and older who are struggling with various issues.

    • Some of the issues I help people deal with in my practice, include: stress, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, family and relationship conflict, interpersonal skills, life transitions and adjustment, grief and loss, anger, and substance use.

    • I use evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness meditation.

  • Since our mind and body are interconnected and impact each other, I also incorporate health psychology to help people adjust to and manage health conditions, as well as make health-related changes in their lives.

    • Some of the issues I help people deal with in my practice include: hypertension, weight loss, diabetes management, chronic pain, and disrupted sleep.

  • I also provide assessment and diagnostic clarification for mental health conditions. For example, a primary care physician might want help clarifying a client’s mental health diagnosis to inform their treatment plan or a client might seek help to determine if they have a mental health condition to help normalize how they are feeling and to create an action plan.

  • Schedule a free 15 – 30 minute in-person or phone consultation to meet and decide if we are a good fit to work together.

My Counseling Approach

I have a collaborative approach to counseling where I work with clients to help them identify areas for change and to make changes by setting specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-sensitive goals. To do this, I incorporate evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness meditation, and other modalities. Generally, this involves changing or adjusting our relationship to our thoughts and changing behaviors that negatively impact our functioning and get in the way of us living meaningful lives based on our values and what is important to us. I also focus on clients’ inherent strengths and coping skills that have helped them overcome challenges in the past. Having a greater understanding of our strengths and weaknesses helps us be more intentional in the decisions we make to have the life we imagined for ourselves. My approach also considers the totality of our overall health as the mind and body are interconnected and mutually impact each other. We cannot separate our mind from our body and it is important to consider how biological, psychological, behavioral, and social factors impact our overall health.

Our first session will involve an initial evaluation to gather history about you to inform counseling and to identify what your goals and needs are. At the end of the evaluation, I will offer you some first impressions about what our work will entail while also asking for your feedback. This will include creating a treatment plan that highlights and details how we will accomplish your goals, as well as deciding on the frequency and length of counseling. Please note that in order for counseling to be most successful, it will require an active effort on your part to work on the goals and things we discuss during our sessions at home and outside of counseling.
